For Lebo Sehume, there are few things more exciting than exploring the streets of downtown Joburg. 'I love the raw hustle of everybody, from the mamma selling veg on the streets, to the arrogant taxi driver - it's so energising.’ Fitting then, that as the sales and operations manager of Maboneng's ground-breaking new office space, OPEN (featured in Office Romance in HL's October issue), Lebo spends her days immersed in the city centre.
When she's not working, she's being awed by her daughter, Kamokgelo, who's 'five going on 35', reading, making crafts, indulging her foodie passions, and building her kids' denim clothing and accessories brand
- Punksalinsky. ’I'm shocked at the quality of denim that little people are exposed to. I get that somehow China manufactures everything but I want this brand to represent local pride and a local edge,' says Lebo. who's inspired by South Africa's wealth of design talent.
Needless to say. she loves denim herself and always finds a way to make her 'hippie-esque, surfer-chick' style work. ’My shoes have personalities of their own, and as a result they lead my style and mood for the day.
No matter what though, they're loud, sexy, boisterous and downright cool.'f i theopen.co.za
